What is the NINE MILES OF GIVING Project?

Nine Miles of Giving is a private charitable giving project created by North Carolina sculptor Luke Lichterman to generate a stream of donations to: The Hello in There Foundation, an initiative established by the family of John Prine.

“I was working in my shop when I heard the news of his passing and was inspired by the wistfully humorous lyrics of his song, When I Get to Heaven, to commemorate his spiritual ascension to, '"A cocktail, vodka and ginger ale and a cigarette nine miles long.'"

Ascending to a Cigarette Nine Miles Long #1/75, is the first in a planned Limited-Edition series of seventy-five handmade renditions, celebrating John’s spiritual passage to Heaven.

When you acquire one of these museum quality renditions, the full stated donation amount will be contributed to the Hello in There Foundation in your name, and you will receive a receipt from the Foundation, for the full amount of the contribution.

Your participation will help keep John’s precious Spirit alive, and extend the hand of Hope and Kindness to those in need of a Hello in There.
